Was taking some photos of my mothers dogs yesterday. I had a few problems with over and under exposure. As it was a really bright day and the dogs are black. Meter on the dogs and the surrounding area is blown, meter for the surroundings and the dogs become black smudges :bang: Advice welcomed.
Got some that are ok, so it wasn't a complete waste of a day.

Welcome to world of digital photography!! :D:D

You can either meet it halfway.. or pull some back in photoshop... but youve done well regardless. Hard to focus on fur though and youve done well with that too.

I've got a solution

Persuade your mother to get 2 nice easy-to-photograph brown dogs. And give these to gorgeous blackies to me. :D

They're certainly having lots of fun and you've captured their enjoyment very well. It would certainly be a lot easier in better light. I think you've got the most important elements (the dogs) right, and that's the most important thing. Definitely not a waste of a day. :)
