I think this set proves that Lewis has star quality, He stands out from the rest, not because we know who he is, but because of what's in him.
All great shots but the last one is the best IMHO.
Certainly does have star quality. Seemed very popular at Goodwood which is good to see after some shocking press on him.
Thanks for the comments:thumbs:
Excelent captures, nice detail and subject matter, one of the places where cameras are expected, so no need to worry about the protocol.
Cheers toonamp. And yes, cameras everywhere at this event which is good as I am not a confident photographer when out but felt at ease here.

These are great. Did you give them a sharpen before posting? Hamilton is awesome.
Gary.

yes they have been sharpened Gary but if I am honest was very impressed with the sharpness of the 70-200 2.8 straight out of the camera. That and the small DOF it can produce is great.
Thanks Gary and jgs001. I was getting worried they were not that good.
nice compositions but some of them, including the shot of hamilton are OOF, at least to what i think the subject should be. In the shot of hamilton it's the guy in the background that in focus.

Why are people using the word "great" to describe these when they look average at best? Apart from the one of Lewis Hamilton, the rest lack interest and none of them are particularly sharp.

Erm, because I personally think they are and I'm as entitled to your opinion as you are. Instead of a blanket criticism of both the shots and people who have commented why not add something constructive?

My comment was aimed more at the replies than the original photos, it seems that people post some real mediocre efforts on these forums yet they're still praised even though they're nothing special.
As for these I'd even go as far to say that they're not "candid", they're just snaps of people who might or might not be well known. And as for the pic of some guy wheeling away a bunch of tyres, whats that all about??
i agree with tigerimages, sorry.
with exception to the last shot of the kid.
the first shot is let down by the bloke having his eyes closed.
lewis hamilton is out of focus and the others have little impact, but that said, its a good attempt, its not easy taking photos of people and trying to not let them know they had there photo taken.
oh, my mother-in-law chauffeurs Lewis hamilton on the occasions.

Hey I would rather people were honest. So thanks:thumbs:
And if they are average then I am happy with that as it is my first attempt so room for me to improve. As for the sharpness I can now see that not all are pin sharp but I think 4 and 8 have good sharpness to them. Tell me if I am wrong:shrug:
And as for taking the pic of the guy wheeling the wheels, well its just something I do not see very often and I like it. I didn't realise I shouldn't have:thinking:
Thanks for your comments, they helped very much.

Thanks for your comments, they helped very much.4&8 don't look at all sharp to me, the guys head is soft compared to his suit and the child isn't at all sharp, that is unless my monitor is fubared.
The guy with the wheels, well, there's nothing in that which suggests that it's a decent picture but I'm not into motorsport so what do I know?!!
The guy pushing the tyres steals it for me, really nice shots, well done.

It might've been interesting had he been pushing them towards the camera but seeing the back of the guys head and a stack of tyres is just mundane.
The mind boggles :cuckoo:
