You should have moved the blades of grass out of the way.

If this is your first attempt at portraits, I think you hve made a good start and shouldn't stop at one!

Specifically: #1 the grass in her face is a bit distracting and next time I bet you'll move the picnic out of the shot. :)

#2 isn't quite sharp - a bit a camera shake?, #3 is a nice happy relaxed pose with your model looking straight into the camera. #4 the shadows are making life difficult for you on this, but again the pose is lovely and begs the question 'what are they saying to each other?' #5 not sure about the border? (just my opinion)

#6, #7 and #8 I like the b&w treatment, and #7's my favourite - I like the light on her jawline, and it's the sharpest. #6 and 9 I think I'd crop a little off the bottom edge to lose the brightness.

The main thing is you've got lovely interaction between you as the photographer and your model. It's hard to watch all the details when you're busy posing your models but like most things, it gets easier with practice.

Well done

Jean

were you using auto focus? with portraits it is best to try and make sure that the models eyes are pin sharp as it draws the viewer it and helps show abit of personality or emotion. the focus looks abit off on a couple of them.

the eyes show everything happyness, anger, upset if you get what i mean

dont stop keep going for it

Some nice starter pictures very nice! I need to get out and get some done, just not feeling 100% at the minute!
