Hi All,

Last night, Eleanor and I went for a walk. Eleanor had my Fuji S3 with the Nikon 18 - 200 VR lens and I was using the D300 with my newly acquired Tokina 12 - 24 lens.

I took this shot:

And then within seconds took this one:

A close inspection will reveal a light on the right middle of the first picture! We looked in the woods and could find nothing that would explain why this was the case. Nothing! However we did spot some flashes that we found very unusual. This is in the middle of nowhere, no roads or buildings just woods!

Very odd!

Regards

Chris

The EXIF on the shots say that a Flash was fired, it could be just the light hitting an out of focus bug

I bet mrgubby is right. Look at the grass stalk on the left and see that the luminosity of the flash reflection on the head of that stalk is about the same as the spot in question.

On the other hand, a dog is running out in the second picture so I suppose it could have been a dog eye reflection :)

What do you think of your Tokina? Thinking of getting one myself.

Hi,

You might be right with the bug, but then that does not explain why we saw flashes of light in the woods. It was very bizarre!

Hi Peachy,

Thrilled with the lens which I have only just bought off another talk tog. Also just taken delivery today from same tog, of the Tokina Macro 100mm 2.8 and got to say that is awesome!

Chris

My first thoughts was that it was a ball in mid-air . Though this would not explain the series of flashes?!?

We have glow worms and possibly fireflys.
