Actually one of those pictures has me wondering.

How dangerous is water to your equipment. If I'm out and it starts to rain is it time to head straight for cover or can the average DSLR withstand a tiny bit of rain? What about fog and mist? Is the moisture in mist equally damaging?

You can get rainproof covers for your camera. I suppose water and anything electronic is not a good mix cameras (with some exceptions included) you should also be careful of condensation in your camera and lenses.
