Not sure what happens next!!

I'm new to all this, found this website via Colab.

I bought myself a Canon 400D a few months ago and have been on a steep learning curve.

I last used a SLR about 35 years ago (yes I am getting on a bit) and then went to point & shoot. I have now come back to digital SLR and am trying to remember what I know all those years ago.

This is the first forum type website I have used and can't say that I particularly understand what a thread is, however here goes.

Marcel
27-02-2007, 12:01
Hello.

If you can only post replies, it seems you may not have activated your account.
When you sign up, you should receive an activation email to the address you supplied. This contains a link you need to click on (Which basically is to prove that the email address you supply is real...it stops false registrations).

I'll take a look at your account for you :)
Gimme 2 ticks.

Marcel
27-02-2007, 12:04
Yup, I've just checked, and it seems your still 'Awaiting Email Confirmation'.
However, it's not your fault. It seems the email to you got bounced back to us by your ISP (Their fault).

So I've manually activated your account, and you should be able to post new threads and upload pictures to your gallery space now

It's just so slow down here lately, apparently their working on the broadband lines so we're on a temporary BT line, that=
Moving soon, so if anyone can reccomend a 'good' ISP :D

Marcel
14-03-2007, 00:34
BE*, if your exchange is enabled and your line is good enough. As an ISP I've found them first rate. Their CS is in bulgaria, but contrary to my other experiences with indian call centres, I have found these people to be excellent.

Submit a ticket and they will always work WITH you to get any problem sorted. They are willing to try technical tweaks, they know what theyre talking about and are very very helpful.

Can't recommend them highly enough if I'm honest.

Hello, another newb here to join the masses :)

edit:

quick question: what sort of size is most prefered when posting pictures, like 800x600? 1024x768? etc

Marcel
29-05-2007, 10:21
The rules are, if you're showing your pictures directly in a post, then the maximum size is 800 pixels along the longest edge.

Above that, and you provide a clickable link instead :)

Hi I have just joined the Site but am struggling a bit to find my well around at present. My intertest is wildlife/landscape photography and am retired. Hi, everyone. My name's Ian, am coming up to 41 and am from Kent, UK. Although I've always been interested in photography all my life, it's only very recently when I treated myself to a Nikon D40 have I been really into it. Now I'm addicted and cannot stop.
This web site was shown to me by another forum user and thought I'd check it out - and I do like the friendly look about it where it's got that "anyone can join in, don't be nervous" kind of feeling about it, along with a lot of excellent photos. In fact, a lot of them puts my own efforts to shame!
In time, once I get to feel my way around this web site, I shall display some of my stuff. But first I'd like to get to know who's the "head boy" and all the "prefects" and of course the regulars. Not to mention checking out all those photos (looks like there's a LOT to shift through so that'll keep me quiet for quite a while)
So, hello there everyone.

Hello, my name is Lem; I enjoy photography but I am still at the beginners stage, but I am having fun learning the different skills, not very good at the technical stuff just yet apertures, ISO's and shutter speeds etc. Hoping to get ideas and information from the forums...I had better make a start:).

Just thought i'd follow the trend in here and say ello.
I am really into keeping Bonsai and want to learn the basics of photography so i can capture my trees in the best possible way. I also enjoy walking with the family and have some nice walks around here, which has some lovely wild life.
So other than taking pics of my Bonsai, wildlife (mainly birds) is what i want to concentrate on. I don't yet have a camera and am looking around for the best possible camera ( up to £100) to suit my needs.
Cheers Slugone:thumbs:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shield#Season_5

The season concluded with Shane Vendrell murdering his friend and fellow team member Lem with a hand grenade.

:D

It's an American police style show, very gritty, shot in the hand held cam style. Ace storylines, great acting. Plus its got Forest Whittaker in for a few seasons, brill stuff :D

Hi Talk Photography,
I am new to you and this country.

I am from India.
I obviously am passionate about photography. Loves old manual cameras and started digital too.
Currently I have a 350D with the kit lens and some screw mounted lens like 85f1.9 Takumar, 135f2.8 JCPenny and Russian f3.5, 200 f3.5, 58f2, 35f2.8 and a Pentax K1000 that I bought last Saturday in a car boot sale in Hounslow west.

I love to shoot portrait, landscape and candid/street shots.
I am associated to our own small webpage in India which is www.photos2net.com
Please visit both for me and my friend. Your constructive comments/suggestions will be assets for us.

Some of my shots are in www.flickR.com/photos/juinbrishti
I am looking forward to enjoy your friendship here in London.

Lol, it's okay to not welcome every new member unless you have a motive like myself. :naughty:

Hi Guys, I've just joined this forum to get some advice from those with knowledge in digital matters. Whats going to give me best quality image;
the Canon 50D with 15mg pixals on APS-C size sensor or the Nikon D700
with 12.1 mg pixals on a full frame sensor ?

Hi there,

Just another new member from Glasgow who likes shooting things in the urban environment we live in. I also ride and shoot BMX and look forward to read some interesting things here!

My current setup is quite basic:

Nikon D50, Sigma 10-20mm, 18-55mm Nikon Stock Lens, Nikon SB-600
Minolta Dynax 7000i, Stock Lens
Olympus Trip 35 (awesome with an Illford 400 BW!)

See my website for some of my work: http://www.carloviscione.com

Happy chatting!
