Photographing thugs 'is assault', police tell householder snapping proof of anti-social behaviour
'A couple of hours later a Police Community Support Officer told me I had been accused of assault, though no such thing occurred, and told me I was not allowed to take photographs of teenagers on the street.
Some lovely headline writing there by the Daily Mail.
Nothing like a good headline to whip the readers into a "This country is disgusting" frenzy.

The DM is a sesationalist rag - definitely not worth chopping down trees to produce.
The legal definition of assault is to offer violence (threaten) or otherwise cause another person to believe you are offerring violence.
And this in the same week that the police said the public should get involved directly to stop crime if they see it.

The headline and the report don't match. Nowhere in the report does it say that he was accused of assault by taking photos.
The report says this:
A couple of hours later, a Police Community Support Officer told me I had been accused of assault, though no such thing occurred, and told me I was not allowed to take photographs of teenagers on the street.
We all know that taking photos in the street is not against the law and we also know that some PCSOs think it is. But we have never had an allegation that its an assault. And this is not such an allegation. Its 2 different things - (1) scally says 'tog assaulted him - which may or may not be true (2) PCSO says - can't take photos on the street - which we all know is balls.
But this is not - you took photos of me = assault

No. That would be 'battery'.
so. would kicking said scrote in the nads be assault?
If you're going to get accused of assault then you miight as well give them something to accuse you of! So kick them hard!!!
It was a £1m flat but this week its only worth £700k and falling as people worry about all the scrotes hanging around
I suppose if the "thugs" had reported " theres a man taking photos of us" they wouldnt have got a response or sounded so tough.
Maybe, in the best traditions of the press, and I know this is hard to believe, we are not being told the whole story here.
As for the location, looks like Nelson Mandella House to me!
