Took a couple like this a few weeks ago in Wales.

The road leads you in, but the telegraph pole ruins it entirely. It sticks up in the wrong place.
However the barn at the front with the "ahem" fencing is full of detail. Maybe you could have framed it to lose the post and the white (garage?) behind it.

The composition is nice, and I like the look of the subject too, but I'm not so sure I like the black & white though. What does the original look like??

Nice shot & processing (good range of tones) there Bill - I'd possibly have recommended moving slightly further backwards (if that was possible?) or getting a bit closer to the fence - the house is a tad too central to my tastes & may possibly have looked slightly better using the rule of thirds. It does look like that may have been slightly awkward though with the long grass, wall & background :shrug:

Looking forward to seeing more from your visit :thumbs:

Thanks for the replies guys. Yup, you're right about the thirds thingy. I'll get another version up later on. Tried cropping closer to the barn, but it ended up looking too soft and could'nt move further back unfortunately. However, advice taken, noted and will be used!:)

Tadaaaaaaa! Telegraph pole gone, garage gone, cropped further to the right so it looks further away and a little brighter. I thought the last attempt was on the dark side.

That's better but it would still be nice to see the colour version.

As requested! A couple rain drops hit the lens cos I forgot to use the lens-hood and that's what the blurry bits are. Yeah, I know, TOTAL AMATEUR!!!:D

That second B&W version is excellent. I'm not a fan of telegraph poles, they can cut a good image to pieces.
