photoshop cs 3 actions

i'm a bit of a newby with photoshop and am having a problem.
i've been given an action file that does a few things to the image and then resizes it and saves it.
i've loaded it up, i can see it in the box of actions, but how do i make it run?
i tried to press play but it wont let me.

with an image open, click the action that you want, you may have to expand it using the little arrow, you should see the list click the top entry, then at the bottom of the action palate you ll see some symbols click the arrow it will then run
