I've been using the 55-250 at minimum focus distance on some flowers trying it out again. I've also discovered an interesting little trick in ACR for sharpening. Both handheld. I think this is the right section for them.

Thanks for looking, C&C welcome, it's the only way to improve :)

Really like 2.

Could you clone out the old petals on the other flower on the top left?

Both lovely flowers but the composition of no 1 is spoiled by the dead flower petals in the top right hand corner. It also looks a little over saturated. No2 is definitely the better image

Thanks for the comments. I've replaced the first image with one that has had the saturation reduced a little and some lens blur applied to try and push the bud out of focus, is that better ?

It is an improvement, but you could crop it to get rid of part of the dead petal, 2 is still my favourite.

Thanks toonamp, I've replaced it with a tighter crop version.

Really nice couple of flowers. Like others have said, shame about the duff petals on the first shot.

I've also discovered an interesting little trick in ACR for sharpening.

So what's this then? Care to share?

Thanks guys. 68Lbs, when using the sharpening mode in ACR, if you hold down the ALT key and drag the mask slider, the preview window will change to show what edges are going to be sharpened, so as you drag the mask slider across, the less of the background etc will be sharpened and the more along the edges. I found it in one of the magazines, sorry can't remember which one. I think it's helped with keeping the noise in the large areas down a little and yet sharpening around the edges of the flower centre etc.
