This is the featured photo at www.moredirt.co.uk and my first ever sequence shot. Must try more of these!

Great shot, not surprised someone picked up on it, well done :)
Great shot indeed.
Well done on the featured shot spot.
How did you do it? Was it just copy pasting each one onto a base layer?
Fantastic... and great to see someone exploiting this enjoyable aspect of digital photography. :)

These shots are really simple to do and I'm amazed we dont see more of them.

Thanks for that link (and reminder) CT. I remember you posting that, first time round and me thinking "ooh I'd like to do that sometime".
The apprehension I face is that my selection and 'cutting' skills leave alot to be desired, in that I can never seem to get things like feathering just right, to blend the selection in properly...Either the edges are too brutal, or not defined enough.
I think I just need more practise ;)
Definately an enjoyable type of photo to view I must admit.
Bod there's absolutely no selecting and feathering involved. :)
Think about it -you have x number of pics all with the same background, so as long as your starting point for cloning is identical in each shot, you're simply cloning samo over samo until the new figure magically appears. It really couldn't be simpler.... honest.

Ahhh bloomin clever indeed. Didn't think of that. Spose I should have read that thread properly....
/Note to self : Must not read things in a rush

:) Thanks Guys. :) I had fun doing it but must admit to not using CT's technique. If I had i could have saved a little time :bang:
Here's a quick practice this afternoon (using CT's method) and the head is now bursting with ideas. Thanks!

Well done Himupnorth, well deserved it's a good pic. So how did you do it?

Ken, I used one picture as base, then lassoed Michael in each position, inverted selection, feather then deleted. This just left a little tidying up round the edges (particularly overlaps of himself) and kept him exactly where was during the jump.
I actually did not use a tripod (didn't have one with me) so was surprised it worked so well.
nice shot(s) there, they make a great sequence. looks like he's not a bad rider either :)

Never tried anything like this but was just wondering if hdr would be easier....combining the image in photomatix?
not sure that they would all show through ken, have you tried it?

Noah - He's a good rider and great on the jumps (my son's hero!)
Ken - The technique you suggest would have artefacts from each image. It is not really that hard. I went a bit mad last night and did this:

Inspired by (but nowhere near as good as) Pook's fantastic shot (http://www.davidgregory.plus.com/charmbattle.jpg)
Heh heh! These are great! :D
I always loved that shot of Pooks, helps having an attractive model on call though! :)
Re: the original image, I would say that next time try it from the front angle so that we can see his face and also try to brighten the image a bit (looks slightly dull). But its still tops considering its hand held!
impressive stuff and well done on the article:thumbs:
