well... being the silly hungover fool i was i left the monopod at home! and strewth that 300 f2.8 is HEAVY! but shooting at 1/5000-1/8000 all day due to the good light, f2.8 and incredibly bright cricket whites.

timing was the biggest challenge after not losing all the highlights in the whites. just getting the ball in the shot was a start but getting it in a nice position with the bolwer/batsman looking good was really really hard. ended up getting a few i liked but i was dissapointed with the speed of the d70's AF again, but very impressed with the sharpness of the 300 :D

here are my efforts:

these are my favorites from what i've managed to look through so far. seems that 300mm isnt quite enough without a little cropping, idealy i'd like a 400 i think or a 1.4x converter.

thanks :)

Some really good shots there, think you used the DoF to excellent effect in that first shot, got everything that matters in focus and left the rest to form some great bokeh.

Not surprised #6 missed, he was looking a you, not the ball;)

Thanks for sharing:thumbs:

#3 for me. That little cloud of dust nails the shot I think.

Mind you they're all damn fine shots. f2.8 @ 300mm, what's the DOF on that at the distance you were? (I could do with looking up that website that listed all the focal and hyperfocal distances per lens and aperture etc)

Some beautifully smooth bokeh on those too.

Some good shots there Noah. I think you've done really well with the exposure considering the challenges you had. #1 & 3 for me :)

What a great set of shots.

My only nit is with #4.
You should be able to see the ball.

Well done

They're all good shots and the exposure is spot on considering the bright sunlight and the 'whites', really good series and thanks for sharing.

They all are excellent shots - you matched the capabilities of the lens!

First and third are the ones for me - wonderful action.
