first thread on this board signed up last week and just read around for a while. so hi :).
(appologies if this is in the wrong area but i think its right)

finally got my canon 1000D today (used to/still have a fuji finepix s5600) thought it was time to move up and get a dslr.

anyway my question is what are the effects of using one of the add on flash things that isnt for the camera? reason i ask is i have an old one that my dad used on his old film slr but was wandering what would happen if i put it on the canon. (dont fancy breaking the camera a day into me owning it)

thanks matt

add on flash things

You mean a flashgun ;)

Have a look and see if it's listed here (http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html). Don't use it without checking the trigger voltage first, otherwise you run the risk of frying your new camera ;)
