1.4x Tele Convertor for Sigma 70-300 APO DG

I have a Sigma 70mm-300mm F4-F5.6 APO DG Macro for my Nikon D50 which I am very pleased with.

I have been looking for a suitable 1.4 convertor for those occasions when my quarry is a little too far away. I have checked out the Sigma Compatability chart on the WarehouseExpress site and am struggling to find anything that appears to 'fit'. :thinking:

Can anybody offer some advice or even better does anybody with this lens use a convertor.

Basically, this lens doesnt really work with a TC.

the kenko converters will fit, tried a 2x on a canon 75-300 adn it works, although the autofocus is horribly slow and struggles to lock onto anything but the most contrasting shades.

The Kenko PRO 300 1.4x TC works on a Canon 70-300 IS, so it should be OK on the Sigma which has the same max aperture range. As trip says, although AF works it is a bit iffy, especially in low light at 300mm where the effective max aperture is reduced to f/8. Not ideal, but OK at a pinch. ;)
