Taken last Sunday on the fabled POTN Scottish meetup (7 other photographers all of us trying to get arrested)

Taken from Carlton Hill.
I didn't go inside...I'm a sasenach and probably wouldn't have got out in one piece (or was that the boozer we passed where the Tartan Army were chanting for the opposition?)

Its been a few years since I went to Edinburgh - the best view of the castle is from the top of the Scott Monument, which I would not recommend climbing if you have a fear of heights or enclosed spaces.

Its worth it for the view, though.

I love Edinburgh - in fact, got engaged to my husband in roughly the spot you were standing to take that pic Bachs!

Thanks all!

I made a slight mistake, it wasn't taken from Carlton Hill, it was taken from the rooftop viewing area at the Royal Museum.

Ven,
I've cropped it today and am still pondering on it as I lose a lot of the grass embankment.
I'll probably still go with the crop though..gonna sleep on it.
