I'm about to do a little tinkering under the site bonnet, so to speak.
As you know, the forums are located at forums.talkphotography.co.uk, the galleries at gallery.talkphotography.co.uk
Well, it seems I cocked up (I'll take the rap for this one :p) It was my idea to use subdomains when we moved, but it's proving a little problematic, in a few areas (search engine stuff, and also installing certain things).
After a bit of discussion, we've decided to revert back to the original URL of talkphotography.co.uk/forums, and talkphotography.co.uk/galleries
Now, I'm going to attempt this a bit at a time, so there will be minimal disruption to normal service. Being optimistic, Im planning on nothing actually stopping working ;)
Don't worry about bookmark links, I'll have redirects inplace to invisibly take you to the new URL, so in theory, absolutely NOTHING will stop working, even offsite linking to threads etc over here :thumbs:
For now I'm just going to attempt to change the forums, see how that goes.
Then if all goes well, I'll attempt the gallery.
The only thing with the gallery, is that when I do it I'll have to close it temporarily while I move the location. This should last for no more than 5 minutes.
I'm not planning to close the forums at all :thumbs:
So if you see the occasional broken link, or 404 or non loading image, that may be why.
If you feel so inclined I'd be grateful of any reports of broken bits to marcelbooth@hotmail.com (MSN only), or marcel@talkphotography.co.uk (email), or via PM carrier pigeon.
Or feel free to grab Matty via his preferred methods (ooer missus), as we'll no doubt be conversing on MSN :)
