Hi All,
I current have a manfrotto tripod 475B and a manfrotto 804 RC2 which are a little to big to take on my nice long countryside walks and am looking to change them for something a little more streamline and lighter.
I am considering replacing the 804RC2 with a Manfrotto 486 and the tripod with possibly a MANFROTTO MN055XPROB or MN190X PROB or MN190CX3
Just looking for you opinions or experiences or is there one that I have over looked
I use a pro055B with a 410 junior geared head which is ace, I've previously used the RC222 grip head too. the 055B is much nicer than the 190 for what I shoot (cars) since its taller and because its heavier it does not sway like the CF or the 190 does

would a lowepro mini trekker cope with a pro055B attached
would a lowepro mini trekker cope with a pro055B attached
Having owned a mini trekker quite some time ago, I'd say it's touch and go, airing on the yes side.
The top will stick out quite a lot above the height of the bag, leaving a fair bit of it unsecured, unless you can make another bungee thingy up or something
try the giottos range, i have recently got one and chose it over the manfrotto legs, they are probably jsut as good but a little cheaper.
You can still use the manfrotto heads as well.

Some members of this forum discovered the Redsnapper Tripod + Head (http://www1.clikpic.com/Redsnapper/gallery_103792.html) combo, which -- in addition to coming with a tripod bag -- is cheaper than the standard Manfrotto tripods.
I have the combo, and I love it. It appears the only advantage offered by the Manfrotto 055Pro is that the Manfrotto can go all the way to the ground. The Redsnapper comes equipped with a smaller center pole, though, which can be swapped if you need to do close-to-ground work.
I've got the 190XPROB which is sturdy but not that light, I assume, if it's in budget the MN190CX3 would be much lighter.

Iv not long had the Manfrotto 055 xprob with the 804rc2 head. Been really pleased with it and it got a good test whilst I was at the Lake District walking for 3 days. Its a fair bit heavier than my old cobra tripod but it is extremely sturdy and the centre column came into use more than I thought it would. Ordered a optech tripod strap yesterday to make it a little easier to carry around.

thanks for you insight guys just have to sell the 475B first and see how much i'll have to find
Another vote for the 055xprob, although it certainly ain't light. I use the 322RC2 head, which also isn't light. Basically I just picked the heaviest gear...lol...
