Thanks for pointing this out. I've just checked my D200 and it's on ver. 2.00; having checked Nikon's site for what's new with this fw ...

"This firmware resolves an issue which, in rare cases, causes the battery indicator to blink whilst shooting regardless of the level of charge in the battery."

I am not too sure it is worth upgrading to, unless you are suffering from this issue!

Still, thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Is that the only fix? So no extra 10 megapixels or anything decent?

That's the same issue the latest upgrade for the D300 fixed, the D80 is prone to suffer from it too :suspect:

I couldn't see what it upgraded, had I known that I wouldn't have bothered :) Still i've upgraded A to 2.01 now so i'll have to upgrade B!

Just noticed that the A version of the firmware is 260Kb and the B version is 3.8Mb ! Whats that all about?

Yup, I just did a quick check for the latest D300 fw update, just to see if I need to upgrade mine, and it seems it's the same issue being resolved. Thankfully, my D300 has the latest fw; but my D200 which only came back from Nikon service last Friday, is on fw 2.00!

Not going to do this upgrade, since I don't seem to have any issue with my indicator.

Well it didn't break anything and I am now on version 2.01 with my battery indicator that was working anyway fixed :woot::bonk:

Ooh, I'll have to get that! This is a major problem for me with my D200 and 120-300 2.8.

Joe,

Are you saying that you get this issue with some lenses on, while with other lenses all is OK?

I heard the new firmware enables Liveview, boosts the sensor up to 14mp and gives zero noise at iso of 64000.
No, wait, that was a dream....:naughty:

Hi gents,

just trying to up date my firmware as it is 1.0 on both A and B but it doesn't give me the option to version update. would be grateful if someone could enlighten me please.

Cheers

I don't ever recall having had the problem and seeing as the d200 has now found a new home, I shall let the new owner decide if the upgrade is worth it. Will see if the d300 suffers with it in a couple of weeks.

Have you just tried to update A to 2.01 and then B to 2.01 ?? The Nikon Site does have version 2.00 still as well.

All you do is put a blank memory card in the computer, copy version A 2.01 onto it and stick it in the camera then go to the firmware update entry in the menu. It shows the current version and the version on the memory card. Once it has upgraded you then stick the memory card back into the computer, delete the firmware upgrade and then stick the version B 2.01 onto it and repeat the process.

Oh right, when I upgraded mine it just said - current version 2.00, available upgrade version 2.01 upgrade (y/n)? or words to that effect!
