I was setting up to photograph the Tiger Lilly when the hoverfly came into view. I never even saw the spider till I opened the RAW file for editing!

Those are great CT, I like the last two but agree that #2 is the corker of the bunch. The first one doesn't do much for me at all I"m afraid. How are the flowers both blurry in the center like that, is it photoshoped?

It doesn't do much for me either Jewel except it gave me the idea for the silly story. No.. it isn't shopped at all, that's how much depth of field you get with macro lenses at these distances.. somewhere between zippo and diddly squat!:D

When I was on course we had to photograph individual components on cicuit boards - shooting 1:1 or larger, the DoF was about 0.2mm at f/22...

Really like no2 CT.
Those Tiger Lillies are gorgeous backdrops too!
Maybe I should invest in some Lillies for my garden, most of my colourful plants seem to have disappeared now & the only real colour I have is from a few Evening Primroses!

Keep shooting with that lens CT, you'll get the hang of it in the end. ;) :D

I hope you're keeping all these nicely catalogued for sending off to agencies. Will save you a job later on. :)

Catalogued? That sounds a bit organised for me Daz! :D

Actually I'm having a lot more success since I got my Nill gimbal Head, and as an added unforseen benefit it also gives me a mount for the 580EX right over the top of the front element of the 180L when it's mounted on the head, so I've stopped looking at flash brackets which look like they've been made out of bits of old Meccano. The Lightsphere diffuser when I get it, should make the setup just about perfect.

I'll be doing a full review on the Nill head, but it's a bit awkward at the moment... I'm not supposed to be using it till my birthday which is still a couple of weeks away. :coat:

Sorry Rog, I cocked your post up a bit there. Bin a long day.

Yep. Stuck the camera on manual, the flash on ETTL, set 1/200 @f11 and left the flash to worry about meeting the power requirements. :D

In fairness it shouldn't be a problem at these distances, especially with fresh batteries. In the event I took quite a lot of shots at that setting and the 'Flash Ready' light never went out.
