i just dont know why i bother anymore, for some reason i have opened a photo in CS2, used the raw section within, levels, curves, cropped and USM, saved for web and the file starts at 23mb, then come down to 473kb at only 87% quality, cant seem to get it down to 160kb.
if i cant get this bit right anymore, the bloody camera's going in the bin..

I suppose it's best to do this yourself and have manual control over it.....but why don't you download the TPFAction that Matt very kindly made, which also does the sharpening for you....if your image doesn't need sharpened much just un-check some of the boxes......saves all the p*****g around.

resize?

Save for web, set image size to about 700/750 pixles on longest side then adjust quality slider to exact size you need. Size is shown on bottom left of screen.

make sure you resize it first.....

A 3000x image is gonna be huge no matter how much you compress it.

resize it to 800x or whatever, then save for web.

When you've got the dialog box open....click the small arrow just to the right of the quality slider, and select "Optimize to file size", enter 160k and hey presto, it does it all for you

I'm on MSN if you wanna grab me now Boon.
