I use Canon as I always did and my kit is all Canon now. However, if I could then I would switch to Nikon but the investment is too large. A couple of pros I work with use Nikon and it a crying shame when they whip out the 600mm primes and I cannot say 'ere, can I borrow that?'.
That said, they love my 100 - 400 push and pull baby :)
I've put my tick for canon. :)
I doubt there'll be that many people ticking the blad option but there are other meduim format makers too. ;)
and if there was a Cambo option I could tick that too. :)

Only can vote for the one Nikon? I got D100, D70, F3, F100, F75, F801, F601 and F Photomic Ftn...
What happened to Bronica and Mamiya?
I must admit, much as though I love the ergonomics of the Nikons, I would dearly love the resolving power and full frame sensor of a 1dsmk2, but only for my landscape work. 6mp on the d70 just doesn't cut it for really large prints.
To the point where I'm considering bagging a cheap med-format film job for my landscape stuff.
It's quite weird how many people use canon over Nikon here, especially as there really isn't that much to choose between them image quality or features wise.
Somebody explain please?

I think its just marketing more than anything ! Canon do a much better job marketing to Joe Public than Nikon do, Nikon seem to think their name and reputation is enough ! This may be the case with Pro's, although my recent trip to Tennis in Birmingham there were about 30 pro togs pointing various cameras etc at Maria Sharapova, 27 of them were Canon !
definately marketing, in other parts of the world im sure its the other way round!
Pretty much what I thought. Nikon do rather rest on their laurels when it comes to advertising. I don't think they push the entry level stuff much either, canon market and produce some rather lovely p&s cameras and I guess it's then a natural upgrade path.......

There really isn't much reason not to. £500 will most likely get you a complete kit that would blow your Nikon or my Canon out of the water.
Sooooo much more fun to shoot with too. :)

Maria Sharapova!
Oih, where's Pentax?
Can't vote until its added.:D
Nikon here as well - I'm only going for what I use for work - I also have a couple of Leicas, a Pentax 67 and a 'Blad 500c.
I agree Nikon have dropped the ball when it comes to marketing and that some of thier new lenses are stunning - I've now got the 70-200 f/2.8 VR zoom nikkor and it's utterly fabulous. All of the images taken on it so far are pinners and the focus-lock actually works on moving subjects at last - that'll teach me for using 10-year old lenses.
Ah, now there's nothing quite like the reassuring sound of the shutter going on a Nikon FM3A!
Where's Bronica and Mamiya on the poll?

If Nikon's are inferior to Canon's that makes any good shots from a Nikonian extra impressive!.
Therefore : Cool. It's always cool to be the underdog :D

Oh Hoodi
If this gets you through the day I reckon you'd better stick with it then:lol:
Sorry fellas - Canon may have the edge with digi resolution, but the build-quality of Nikons is still better. Film cameras? faggedaboudit - Nikons all the way - F3 was awesome (F4 was an abberation so we'll skip over that one) and the F5? Well, I'll never sell mine, put it that way.
The AFP photographer who was with us today had on of his Canons die on him in the heat. Screens went black and no amount of cooling (damp cloths whirled around then wrapped round it) would get it going again.
He told me that last month in Iraq his other body (this was a new one) had died from dust ingress seizing the controls.
Happy to report my D2x bodies are still going strong - no probs in the 55C heat (even though they get so hot I have to wear a pair of flying gloves to shoot with them) and no probs with the dust.

The fact is like them or hate them - having Canon and Nikon competing against each other will ensure lower than otherwise likely prices aswell as continued R&D into new technologies.
Perfect example of this is the continued decline in the prices of dSLRs from both Nikon and Canon since the 300D was released.
