View Full Version : Nikon D60 or Canon 1000D
A hello first, I think this is my first post.
Due to budget limitations I can just about stretch to one or the other. Any idea which would be best for a novice? which has a better standard lens? Any other pointers really appreciated.
Thanks!

D60 all the way! Its a better lens and its small and neat.

I find the menus easier and more intuitive to use in Nikon cameras (I'm sure Canon users would disagree) and the D60 is definitely a neater, smaller camera. But I would go to a camera shop and try them both in your hand (if you haven't already). You may find one is a better 'fit' than the other.
Good luck

Well, my stock advice is to consider going used, but if you must have one of those two my vote would go to the D60 - it's a nicer feeling camera, and its stock lens JUST edges it over the canon (although there's really not that much between them).
They are very different feeling cameras though, I would recommend you handle them both to see which you prefer.
Cheers,
James

I agree, also look at other manufacturers like Sony or Olympus - there are more DSLR's out there than Canon's or Nikons contrary to what some Canikonites will lead you to believe.
as a canon man - iwould say the D60 as well out of those 2 choices but as mentioned looked at other systems as well.
