Ladies and gentlemen we are pleased to announce the new format competition here at Talk Photography.

While we are still using the monthly theme format, this will now become part of a bigger picture, a Photographer of the Year.

The rules are as before, but are now a little more relaxed  They can be found here (http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=9227).

As expected, the scoring system has been slightly altered, as has the method for choosing the monthly competition theme. These have now been decided in advance, to give you plenty of forethought and planning for the upcoming months ahead.

Any questions, please feel free to pop them in here and we'll answer as many as possible. If you have any reservations or ideas, please feel free to come forth with those too

Sounds a good idea :) - Maybe you could get a point for entering otherwise it might be 1 year goes by and you still only have 0 points.

Not thinking of anyone in particular (Ok ME :bang: :D )

Nice job guys, sounds like fun! I seem to remember this being suggested at the other place, but somebody shouted down the suggestion as impractical and farcical. lol. Onwards and upwards!

Sounds like a great idea guys BUT, what about your members who don't live in the UK. I know there are only a few of us on the forums here but how does the whole 'free print' thing work for us?

Feels left out. :'( :(

I am a bit confused ( nothing new these days) not been on for a while and saw the POTY comp, looks at gallery and submissions and it says voting not started yet whoooo hooooo goes looking for a pic to submit ( for fun only, no chance of winning against you lot ) then decides better look for rules and discovers, I think that the 1st round is done and dusted ? Am I right in thinking that ? yet last entry was on 1st sept

Can you submit for some of the rounds or do you have to do it for all of them...you can tell I am a new to all this :help:

Hi Wee Scot,

The rules and information about the competition can be found here:

http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=9227

You don't have to enter all of the competitions, you can just pick and choose although the points are all tallyed up and put into an ongoing leaderboard. The 1st month is done and dusted, we are now on round 2 which is "black and white".

The entries have to be emailed to the address on the rules page before 23:59 on the 30th of this month. The site admin staff then upload the photos to the gallery for other people to look at.

You then send your favorite three in a private message to marcel/whoever is running the competition for that month (until the poll system is set up later - as per the rules page) and he will keep a record and post the scores up when voting has finished (usually 7 days after it starts).

The voting is disabled on the page where you can see the photos because its a built-in feature of the gallery system that we aren't actually using at the moment - Marcel was going to look at removing that to avoid confusion.

HTH

nps, glad to help - sorry you didn't get a reply sooner, I blame Marcel.

Marcel

I blame me too :D

Sorry, I didn't see this post when it was made...sorry! :bonk:
Matt's covered it all I think. The whole comp is based on points, rather than round wins etc, so latecomers still have a chance to catch up.
You can join in any round you please, or miss any round you please. :)

The current round is Round 2 - September - Black & White, which ends on the 30th :)

For more info, check this thread out http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=10232 :)

Again, anything you need, just ask (promise to reply this time :D)
