Your very first shot taken with your camera (OK, it might be DCF_0001 or some such, but you get the jist) :D
Anyway, here's mine
http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/8606/img0001fb9.jpg
Taken in Jessops when I bought the camera (was checking for hot/stuck pixels on the LCD :D)
To play fair though, here is the first real shot I took with the camera (which was IMG_0010)

Mine was taken at 4.41 on the 10th march 05. As my wife was the subject and she hates all pictures of herself I won't post it for survival reasons :)
The second 0001 picture has been deleted. (up to 15k shots taken now so counter reset itself)
Fair enough Robert. I can fully understand about the better half not wanting it shown ;) Care to share another 'first' shot then...I suppose if you can't show IMG_0001, then post your first proper shot with it? (Like I did ;))
My boys were playing on the slip and slide when I got home from the camera shop with my shiny new D70. 15.54 on the 22nd June last year, this was the second shot, I can't find the first.

Looks like my first image saved was 0089:shrug:

More than likely (if its a canon), it takes the numbering from the memory card, rather than the camera. So you'll find the last shot taken before it on the previous camera was 0088 ;)
Here is my first shot, surprise surprise, lol

Not THE first shot I took as I haven't got every pic I've ever taken (and I'm not sentimental like that  ), but this is one of the first shots I took - taken in September 2004 with my brand spanking new D70.

Well, this will be my FIRST posted photo on this website after lurking for a while, so does that count? I've only just bought my Nikon D50 (before that is was a Sony P73) a week ago and this was one of the first 'proper' pictures taken. It's a high number due to me getting used to a proper camera. I really wanted the flatiron building to be in the middle of the 2 towers, but the road was too busy and I very much doubt they would stop for me!

thats what i'm searching for at the moment. Having a filing system didn't seem that important back then :bonk:
Mindcrime - if thats your first picture the ones when you are experienced will be a bit special :) nice shot..... and welcome to the forums.

This one with my 350D. I literally walked into Bristol Zoo with the camera on auto mode and fired these off with my 70 - 300 sigma. Sometimes I think I have never bettered it, which is irony at its best. A friend loved this picture so much she had a copy and had it put on canvas. No bs, I did not even know how to operate the camera, let alone control ap and shutter!!!  Maybe I should go back to auto mode

Of course, the PP and framing came later.

Funnily enough, Sue took a pic of a lioness that is better than I have ever taken, it was the first time she's used a DSLR and I was really impressed.
I'll upload it in a sec

As much as I would love to take credit for this, I can't. And it grates so much :( I havent taken anything as good even though I've shot over 1000 photos in a fortnight :)

however I have been looking all evening for my first shots with my Fuji4700, I will keep looking...great idea this thread ;)
I'm not one for taking someone elses credit, so I'll freely admit it was pinched from another forum, but then as with most things on the internet, it's rare to find an original idea anyway :D
This is number 2 so I guess number 1 must have been the floor :)

My first NEW camera Zeiss Nettar f4.5 Tessar 12 on 120. Taken 50 years ago on Ilford FP3 and I expect about 100 at f11. Will digital images last as well. No working out how to get the best transformation into mono - they came that way unless you were rich! Still have the camera but reminded me that haven't checked it for a while.
Wow! That is very 'Ansel Adams' FM! Impressed I am! Damn that grain though eh?
You're as bad as me mate, but I think we're looking back through rose coloured specs a bit. Digital can really enhance that great image.

I have my first pic ever with a an SLR let alone DLSR but its of kirstie at work and she kill me if I posted it 'cause 'her hairs not right' 'this isn't right' etc....so this is my next one on backup

Thanks CT for the Ansel Adams - my Father's training from age of 9 using a 1/4 plate camera. The basic rules of composition haven't changed. Like the treatment of the scanned neg, what did you do? - must dig out some more negs of the trip.

I selected the sky with the lasso tool, then used a PSP7 filter called 'Edge Preserving Smooth' just on the grain in the sky where it's most visible. It has another great noise filter called 'Texture Preserving Smooth' I use sometimes too. Then removed the mask and applied a filter to the whole image called 'Clarify', which is a sort of combined sharpen/contrast filter which can really make images pop. You have to be careful with the strength you apply it at though as it can cause the shadows to posterise.
Thanks CT - but what are the PSP7 filters - new to me but certainly did the trick and looked "different" from the normal CS2 approach. I must have a play with some other old negs sometime.

Not my first shot...I need a scanner for that....and some brown paper and an Iron. ;)
I don't have any digital images from the last few years either because I had my computer stolen....loads of hard copies though so not so bad. :) ( I have two external hard drives for back up now…ones hidden. :suspect: )
So I thought I'd show my first set of shots with my dslr, on the first days use (the day after purchase, Sunday) took about 200 shots, full auto and medium jpg and this is one of them.
This is the whale stranded in the Thames on the 22nd of January this year...it died later that evening of kidney failure and dehydration...and stress, I recon.

Should be off on holiday but horse threw a shoe so waiting for Farrier! Horses
My first shot from my Eos 20D is strangely not 0001 but I did use a card out of a previous camera. I bought my 20D whilst on holiday in Nevada last year. I pre-registered the address of the House I was staying with my credit card company then ordered it from New York saving local sales tax. I remember the saving was rather large!
My daughters were first to be captured!

I have loads of stuff on film but not sure which shots that are now on Disk came first so choosing the first film that I had processed and requested it on disk as well as I had just started to use Photoshop. It is taken in February 2001 in Brasil and is a shot of a brave Norwegian pilot. He had never flown a praglider before but had over 20 years hang-gliding experience. This was a remote part of Brasil (12 hour coach ride from Rio) and it was too difficult to take a hang-glider - so he took a paraglider instead!

I seem to have lost or deleted my very earliest files- but here is dscf_00011 taken on an early model Sony 2.1Mp camera. Picture taken out of aircraft window flying out of Florida. I bought the camera in the USA because they were cheaper there then- $600 for 2.1Mp !!!!. Despite the cameras age I still think it's a fairly good digital image.

The photo is of part of my dinner - I bought some salad stuff to have in my hotel room (couldn't be bothered going out to a restaurant - I travel alot with work and believe me it stop being fun)

It is actually IMG_2049 for some reason but it is the first photo I have from my first digital camera (Ixus 40). Taken at work the day after I got the camera.

My digital cameras been round the clock twice, so this is my first medium format film shot, and the first I ever processed and scanned myself, tend not to have 11tybillion shots of the same thing using film, and the folders are much more navigable.
