Shaftesbury's Gold Hill more famous the Hovis advert.... "It were reet grand coming back down ***!.... "

Often why it had the name "Gold Hill", it wasn't until I saw the sun setting did I realise

Like the light you have captured there :)

I take it that is a handrail not a fence at the side. Is it as steep as it looks?

I was born and grew up just down the road from there! Don't have any photo's of it though for some strange reason.

Always made me laugh at the northerners and their accents in the advert, knowing full well it was a mile away from the real dorset accent!

Do they still have the large plastic loaf at the top?

Where is this place?? Beautiful shot! :)

This is just off Layton Lane in Shaftsbury, Dorset. Great part of the world.

Really nice shot and the light has been captured spot on IMHO. Brings back memories of 'lashings of ginger beer' during summer hols spent just up the road in Blandford Forum.

Do they still play Skittles down there in Dorset?

Nice version of that classic calendar shot. How long did you have to wait for all the tourists to get out of your way ? Mind have been nice with a young lad on a bike though :)

Not long - it was in December so there were none! Plus it was truly freezing.

Lovely. It's difficult to believe that places like that still exist. Some of those roofs look like they need attention, but I bet there's more conservation orders and regs to wade through than you can shake a stick at.
