Seen the phrase '100% crop' many times, just what exactly does it mean?

It means cropped from a large picture but not resized. Shows you the best detail the camera/lens can do.

If your picture was 3000 x 2000 pixels when taken you would have to resize it before you could show it in a thread to 800 pixels wide or less. If you just want to show a small detail from say the corner you could crop the image to that small part and just save it and it won't be too wide for the page.

Its basically a picture zoomed to 100%

Obviously if you've got a picture thats 3000x2000, to show it all zoomed in to 100% you'd need a huge monitor...so you crop to a portion of it :D

Basically it means a real sized section of the shot :)

You're welcome :)

I've just noticed you're in Horwich. Do you get up Winter Hill / Rivington Gardens much? I was up there today with my family :)
