View Full Version : lens question
hi, i used a canon 1DS the other night and im pretty sure the lens was 24-70mm
so my question is when his lens was at 24mm howcome it seemed alot wider than my lens when its at 18mm (seemed alot more fisheye'ish if that makes anysense).

the 1ds is a full frame camera, your 1000d is a 1.6x crop sensor.
This means that 24mm on your 1000d gives a FoV factor of around 38mm.
So, to put it even more simple. 24mm on you 1000d is around 38mm on the 1ds Full frame
ahhh right cheers :) so what lens would i need to get the equivilent of full frame at 18mm

12mm Matt ;) or 11.25 to be exact I think ;)
One of the ultra wide lenses designed for a crop sensor. Something like the Sigma 10-20 which would be the equivilent of a 16-32 :)
cools cheers, i think the 10-20 is next on my list of things to buy  either that or some studio lights.
