what a lovely shot to leave us with too....
not going to tell you not to flounce off, we've all felt like it at times, look forward to your safe return when you get your act together again ;)
Decided i've had enough, my photo's are crap, no inspiration and generally bored of photography.
Why I oughta.... :boxer:
Everyone gets snappers block at some point, hell I think I had it for about 10 years once.
The trick is not to let it pull you under completely. If you're not getting any joy out of your photography right now, then fair enough put the camera bag away in a cupboard and do some other stuff for a while.
The inspriation will come and find you when it's ready but the more you chase it, the further it gets sometimes.
Everyone here knows you can shoot some really fine images and I'm sure you will again. Stick around, there's every chance you'll see something here one day that will spark off something and get your creativity flowing again.

Don't give up Steve !! - msn me for a chat :)
I like that pic - and I'm not just saying that!
The lakes will be your inspiration!

Sometimes I have to force myself to get my camera out, Steve... and then I walk around and cant find anything to take photos of. Its horrible.
Have a break... once you go away for a while Im sure it will all come flooding back.
And thank you for introducing me to this forum.....its fantastic!

it truly is a lovely shot Steve....wish you hadn't chosen to give it to us as a leaving gift though
Pull yerself together man, iv taken inspriation from your shots, and if i was half has good as you i would be happy,
god bless and come back soon.
thats a nice shot. How can you say that! I've always looked up at your shots the colour and sharpness is superb
im sure your inspiration will return Steve, we all go through little spells like this, DF has been in the middle of one for about 2 years now....
I know exactly how you're feeling. I've tried a few different things recently and been totally disillusioned with them. Answer I've found is go back to what you're comfortable with, shoot through it.
'Tis a great shame that you feel that way Steve. I'll be sorry to see you go if you do.
I know how you feel though, sometimes I get so frustrated with the whole shooting I wanna go lob the nikon in the canal and forget all about it.
I hope your mojo returns soon along with your good self.
(nice shot btw ;) )
Hi mate, sorry to hear your feeling creativeless at the moment, stick with it thought as you know you always take some good shots, absolute pearlers at times, so don't even go there with this 'I'm pants' at this attitude.
Put the camera away for a few weeks, take a breather, don't feel pressured into thinking I've got to take pics all the time. Still hang around here, as you can chat, take the ****, have a laugh all with not having to take pictures.
One other thing that might help you, me and others if the Admins change the photo sharing to another format as I can see perhaps yours and others peoples frustration where you post an image only to get one or two comments.
Chin up, plug away, do your models for a few weeks and see how you go, but more importantly, DON'T be a stranger, keep popping in, if only for a natter.
I can go for weeks without touching the camera , lack of inspiration , time , confidence in my photography , lens envy ;) , weather to hot / wet /dull /bright or a million other reasons.
Your photos are neither crap or boring so please don't stop posting , have a very manly , lets go down the pub & discuss it type hug
Boon,
you may not be feeling inspired but some of your stuff has inspired me!!
Thanks :)
Dont do anything silly like sell your gear!

Please pop in every now and then for a chat. My camera has been stuck in the cupboard and hasn't seen the light of day for a couple of months now as I'm sort of going through the same thing. I still come on here for a peek at everyone elses work, and a gossip

You ain't frappin kiddin, at the moment i couldn't produce a decent shot if a pro composed the shot and i just had to press the button. Hence the reason you rarely see an image from me.
I quite like that image tbh, and whats more......so did the father in law
He used to shovel coal on the old trains.......he said where is that? btw
Aww Boon please dont walk away!
I think you joined the site a short while before me and so I watched you post pics and felt I was learning from the critique you got too.
I remember thinking, 'hey this guys not really any better than me' so then I felt brave enough to post a few pics too.
Then one day I looked at the new pics you were posting and thought 'whoa! when did Boon get to be so good' and I honestly felt that you had really progressed and left me behind.
I miss seeing your name amongst the posts and really hope that something comes along to rekindle your interest.
I also have enjoyed looking at your shots as I think we were at about the same level when I joined. You have improved much more than i have, and I often look for your stuff for inspiration and to see the critique you get. I still haven't posted one of my shots yet.
One thing I have noticed, though, if you don't mind me saying, is that you sometimes take photos when its not possible to get that perfect shot . I'm the same - I go somewhere and then want to take photos. No matter what the light or weather or sky. I've noticed that others don't do this. If its not a photo day, its not a photo day. I've struggled with this myself.
When the lights been there, your photos are as good as any here.
I hope you keep posting, but if you're not enjoying it, then thats no good.
Andy
What you should do is to look at the galleries here and find one that inspires you. I like hoodi's - its photography i'd like to do. (not buying any though:D )

I hope this is just a phase, I actually quite like the work you have posted - not sure what to suggest that has not been said already, but seriously hope that you do pick up the camera again in the near future.
Hope to see you back soon buddy. Take a breather - like others here, your work was one of the first that I saw & I would be very sorry to see you go.

By all means take a break Ken but this group will miss your photos (like above) and your input which has been generous in the past.
Sometimes these groups can stem your own creative spirit (no offence guys) because there are so many good images (and opinions) that one can feel less worthy. Take your camera with you Ken and just let fly at whatever attracts your attention and when you find something that rekindles your interest work on it.
Then come back and show us your work :D
well, i am quite overwhelmed by the remarks. Thank you one and all, very very kind, decided to put away the camera for a couple of weeks until i go to the Lakes on sept 9th, and then i will try again to capture something worthy of these forums.
i intend to stay around the forum, nitpicking and tormenting contributors, so beware.
BTW, the picture was taken on the Worth Valley Railway, i was actually hanging out of the train window to take this shot.
ok gang, see you around..

will pass on the location
Have fun in the lakes
You will be greatly missed on the Forum - I have valued your advice and looked at my photography in a different light from this and looking at your work. Your eye and camera will always be there so don't put it in a cupboard.
I always looked for your coments on anything that I posted.
I was amazed how you kept on with the happenings in your life this year - trust that the lad is now recovering well and that you are happy job -wise
Look after your self and keep in touch on the forum and return soon with a picture to match your so called leaving present!

sometimes I get so frustrated with the whole shooting I wanna go lob the nikon in the canal and forget all about it.
Nothing new there Gandhi.. Lots of Nikon users feel the same way...
On a serious note I can understand how you are feeling at the moment Steve but beleive me you need one good day out with the camera to get you back in the mood.:)
As quoted If you fancy a day out with the camera grab another photog to go with you, Learn from each others techniques and swap notes..;)
Dont give up mate that is such a great composition. i love it. take a break then come back to it pahaps it will seem fresh again.

I've been feeling much the same way lately Steve, that's why I haven't been on the forum for a while. Having to work shifts doesn't help, I've also had to put some time in to studying for the ECDL. Thankfully I passed the last the last module yesterday.... My first educational qualification at the age of 53, so I'm a bit chuffed to say the least .
Enjoy yourself when you go to the Lakes, I'm sure you'll come back with some great shots. We're planning on going up to the Yorkshire Dales over the weekend, hopefully the beautiful scenery there will rekindle my enthusiasm for photography.
Mike
sorry to bump this again, only i have to thank the comments and remarks i have received here.
i have even received posts from people who have not been with this forum for long, and that inspires and humbles me, and i wish to take this opportunity to give one last Thank you to all for your comments. As i said previously, i will float around the forum, having a say when i can, and i am hoping the lakes will yield some great opportunities for me.
Once again cheers..
I hope they do bud. You've turned out better pics than I could ever hope to acheive :)
Look forward to your return Steve, enjoy the break and don't be a stranger round here. :)
