My first Indian Wedding

I shot my first Indian wedding over the weekend. It was only partially Indian though. The bride was Indian but not a practicing Hindu and the groom was English so the wedding was a bit of a mix of traditions. I ended up shooting about twice as many shots as I normally take so I have a lot of processing ahead of me but here is a quick edit of one the couple specifically asked for.

I'll add a few more photos from the wedding as I get round to finding the good ones.

Looks great to me. The building shrouded in mist makes the couple really jump out.

I like the pic and the mist but I'm unsure if this crop would look better.

That possibly is a better crop. I might just use that, thanks.

Amateur would like to voice his opinion, second tighter crop has much more impact. I saw the doorway as an entrance into marriage represented by the building. Therefore the first crop is slightly ominous with the building being so much larger than the bride and groom!

However, if the wall that the picture is to be placed is squarer in proportions than it is narrow and tall, the first crop may still look better.....

Nice shot. Prefer the crop.

I like the mist. Comparisons of the Taj Mahal shrouded in fog / cloud / pollution, if you see what I mean

I guess the techniques are very much the same and the key shots you need to nail are very much the same however there were some Indian traditions that I knew absolutely nothing about so I didn't know what I was going to be shooting until it actually happened. Luckily the groom was English so there were some traces of a traditional English civil ceremony in there.

This was only my 4th wedding so I don't have a massive amount of experience. I'd say this was certainly the hardest wedding I've done in terms of technical difficulty and sheer hard work but I enjoyed it.

The biggest problem with this wedding was the fact that they had hired a video guy that was Indian and spoke very little English who kept getting in my way and shining a stupidly high powered light over everything so even when I was bouncing flash I was getting harsh shadows from his light.

It was certainly a learning experience.

I would say I prefer the original shot. I have been to an Indian wedding and a party, I did not have my camera then but was blown away by the colour and the sari's. Looking to go to another with camera ready.

I've only got the first 100 pictures up on my website so far but I hope to have the full set up by the end of the weekend.

Love the shot, I prefer the original version.
Is it just me, or is it a bit on the wonk though?
