My First Outdoor Male Portraits

My friend is trying to build his portfolio and I always want to practice, so here's a few shots.

Sun was in/out/in/out. No reflectors/flash. I gave him a white hoody to hold but it didn't feel strong enough.

Look forward to any pointers on how to improve.

He was great for posing, I didn't have to tell him anything

They are nice, but really could do with some levels etc.

Thanks - I think that changing the "shooting style" to portrait change the colour slightly.?

I think some light in the eyes would make a big improvement.

Agree, maybe a reflector might have helped on that? Nice shots though

A reflector maybe a bit of flash to lift the shadows and maybe some change in perspective and position may have added to the set, but for your first time Joe, nice work. Look forward to more.

Thanks Marcus. I better get these ordered then

I also need to look into different poses/positions/perspectives I guess.

A bit of variation in expression would be good next time, for his benefit more than anything. People, generally, won't hire models with a single facial expression.

Also, some wider/full length shots as well.

Thanks Stuart

I revisited one of the shots since I acquired GIMP, I think I have done okay at my first attempt of PP' some spots/blemishes

I like this last one better than the first ones as the colors are much better, and you brought his eyes out. However, I do not like it so tightly cropped, though of course, others may think differently.
