Went over to Manchester last night to watch Toyah perform. It was 30 years to the day that she released the "Changeling" album which was a formative album in my teens. :)

We were worried that the illusion would be shattered, but the small venue, about 150 ageing people forming the audience, and Toyah really getting up for it, it was a superb gig!

Not allowed "professional type" cameras, so i didn't bother with the 40D...instead I took my mum's Olympus SZ-10. I think it did a great job!

Here's a couple of the main support act "Global Citizen" and 3 of Toyah. :)

My ears are still ringing!

Cheers. :)

Certainly did a good job indeed, hope the ringing stops :}

Ringing has stopped (well, not totally as I suffer from Tinnitus anyway!).

Was a great gig, and the compact did well for what it was. :)

Cheers

Great pictures. (Olympus SZ-10? wow.)
Now I know how to arrange my beard when I want to look evil, thanks Craig.

Yes, the Olympus is quite a capable camera, really. I won it in a photo competition, and gave it to my mum, but borrowed it for this gig.

It's a good look, with that beard, eh?

:)

didn't realise toyah was still going, she still looks great :)

nice pictures, btw - really impressive performance for a compact - just shows how technology has moved on.

Thanks. Yes, she seems to be doing quite a bit, small gigs and so on. And she was fun and looks fab for 54.

The Olympus is quite capable...I did think I'd have done better with the 40D, but wouldn't have been able to hold it aloft quite so much as it's a damn sight heavier!

Cheers

Really well executed, great framing an colour, most of all a real blast from the past and flashes of time spent in my youth, great stuff!

Thanks. It was such a small gig (bet there weren't 100 people in the audience) so even without pushing to the front, I was no more than 10 foot from Toyah. I could have got to the front easily, and she interacted with the audience in front of her. If you're into a "blast from the past" she is playing quite a few small gigs around the country. It was fun...not been to a gig for a few years, so was nice to do that again...reliving the youth! ha ha!

That guy from Global citizen is also an alternative cloths model for Jed Phoenix.
