Baby Photography poses suggestions

Hi there,

I was wondering if there are any other baby photographers out there who would like to share their experience with posing newborns. Taking pictures of babies can be a real challenge, here are a couple of my images, but I seem to photograph them mostly lying on their fronts.
Any other suggestions?

they look attractive to me
if asleep you dont have a problem with the eyes
if awake then get some eye contact
if you cant get the item they are looking at in the frame..ie toy or whatever
plain background and a smile if possible
some props to make them a bit 'cool' will be nice...funny hats etc
all in all
most baby shots if sharp and uncluttered are good
