Canon to release EOS-1D Mark IV firmware update later this month

Canon is preparing a firmware update that "enhances the AF tracking performance of the EOS-1D Mark IV for receding subjects and for subjects that are approaching at a low speed." Firmware v1.0.6 is slated for release towards the end of the month.

This is clearly marketing code for correct. If it were an enhancement, it would be announced and ready for download almost contemporaneously. There seems to me to likely have been some reports to them about an issue, which they now acknowledge quickly after the nonsense last time whilst they investigate and work on it.

The AF must be so complex now, that it's like some kind of strange organic creature that they can't control properly.
