Hi

My grandfather recently gave me his old Braun camera. It feels great and is a real joy to use alongside a DSLR. I took it with me when I took some snaps in Dorset. I am VERY pleased with the results. Unfortunately my scanner (a commercial grade office jobbie from PC world) isn't really up to it and doesn't quite convey how sharp the pics are. I will choose my faves and have them developed directly to a CD next week.

Anyway, see what you think:

They look really great! I'm getting an Olympus OM film camera next week. I bought it for the lens but may have a play with it.

Very nice, and I bet you really enjoyed the process too.

These look great, as does the camera (y)

I really need to get my Ilford Advocate (also 1954 vintage) out and run a film through it

Buy an adapter!!

Like the black and white landscapes. Nicely composed!

Quick update, I have recently bought a whole load of accessories for the paxette, cases, boxes, viewfinders etc... here is the camera with an Enna 135mm lens and an 85mm lens. Managed to get an original Braun viewfinder on eBay too which will be here soon!

I even managed to track down a 1957 review of the camera which you can see in the pic above, with my prints.

Cheers - more updates as the bits arrive!!

Just for a change I think I like looking at the equipment more than I do the excellent photos.

Thanks! It's a really nice little outfit. My 'turret' viewfinder has just been shipped from Germany so I'll have that soon. I actually bought a Russion copy shortly beforehand as I didn't expect to find a proper Braun one, with parallax adjustment. Sods law said that as soon as I had paid for the Russian one, I found a Braun one.

Still, it could be worse!

When I was a Brown coat (walkie op) at skegness we used the Advocate for flash work in the evening. The lens was as good as the elmar we used on the leica 3 c that we used in the day time.
