Hi everyone

I have just bought a Braun PF1 XM1 flash unit for my Braun Paxette camera. I wondered if anyone could tell me what sort of bulb it requires and what sort of cable I need to attach it to the camera?

Cheers

P.s sorry for full on lack of knowledge

AFAIK there should be a socket on the flash that is the same as the socket on the camera.

Beautiful camera BTW

I have just seen a box of XM1 bulbs on eBay - I guess these would fit, as well as PF1 bulbs? Here's the link - what do you think?

When I post more pics later I would also like to know what type of battery the flash needs.

Many thanks for all the help.

EDIT - just found a set of 4 PF1 bulbs, in the UK too, so I'll get those too

EDIT EDIT - It has just occurred to me that perhaps PF1 and XM1 are the same thing, just different designations by country?

That's what I thought...

Toughie... is that a jack socket in the flash body or the same thing as the camera body socket?

Looks the same, just a little hole... the centre of the shoe of the flash has what feel slike a spring mounted 'bobble' which you can see in the pic, and another 'hole' in front of that, between the bobble and the other 'hole' - how technical am I?

Yeah, the hole at the front is what I am after a description of - I don;t think you have a hotshoe on the camera itself so that bobble is unused.

Tell you what, I got a cold to hotshoe converter here... sits between the flash and the body and has a cable that plugs into the body. PM me an address and you can have it.

TR164? No idea to be honest, what voltage?

found this on flickr...

short one's 15v, others 22.5V - AA shown for scale. I believe the older flashbulb guns did use some seriously punchy batteries!

Edit - the 7 from 75 could be a 1 - a few of the continentals (mainly germanic I believe) do put a oversize serif on the 1

I'm planning on a trip to Warwick tomorrow where I went into 'Sid & Jane cameras' in the market place. I bought an 85mm lens there and noticed they had flashes just like this one in the window, so perhaps they can help me.

Failing that, does anyone know of any vintage camera specialists who might be able to sort this one out for me?

Cheers

They're pretty good in there, I live in Kenilworth out of term-time so it's my 'local'. The gentleman should be able to help you out. Failing that there is a kind of flea market thing not far from Sid and Jane (back towards the castle) which often has a large stock of vintage equipment?
