I know this one isn't really Macro, but has the shallow DOF i was looking for...

Hi Mark

first image looks a little soft apart from the very top of snow 'pile' - guess due to shooting hand-heald plus using wide aperture? background a bit 'messy' especially diagonal twig. Maybe slight change of position to get subkect twig parallel with camera and clearer background?

sceond image, gorse, translucent ice 'finger' shows well against the sky, focus looks good

last image - interesting depth of field use - I find my eye is distracted by the out-of-focus (snow) blob though - great texture on the hinge and bolt though - worth working on some more

Thanks for that Geoff, given me some things to think about, yes they were all taken with shallow DoF in mind, im not going to see if i can remove the snow blob from number 3.
