Personaly I love animal mutations and get quite exited when I see them. For some time I have been trying to get melanistic rabbits that are not cross breeds. Harder than some think. Most will be crossed with escaped pets,shich and you will mainly tell by the ears.
However when in a isolated place, like islands with no humans then you can be sure that its trully melanistic as this fellow.

Unfortunatly most black rabbits become prey very easily and you rarely will see a adult.
