I like the idea but there area few issues with this one, they eyes aren't in focus, which really detracts from the photo, also in therms of composition it is very central and doesn't really do much for me + you've clipped the nose of a bit 
Although that sounds very negative there are good bits too! the texture is really nice on the scales, and i like the look of emotion on his face.
If you iron out the problems mentioned above next time you'll have a supper photo, keep practising
Sorry if this does sound negative its not as bad as it sounds but you learn far more from criticism than from compliments.

Thanks for that Jack! I know what you mean about the nose (she wouldnt keep still) and the eye I was miffed about. I have tried to sharpen it up but couldnt get it just so!
