I think that the angle on the second is so much better than the first but I like the colours of the first as apposed to the B&W of the second, both look to need a little CW (ClockWise) rotation

I disagree, I actually think the angle on 1 is more interesting than the 2nd... for me!

Is it just me or is the 1st image extremely soft?

do to the first the same as the second and crop the top a bit
make the dam the main event and crop down to its area then it will stand out
moving round to the front of the dam as you did in no 2 is the best viewpoint then more dynamic water can be seen..

Thanks guys. Its a fantastic damn and I like to go there, but I want to get my pictures better.

The picture looks a little soft as its a hand held shot and I think I wobbled it. I also used a wider aperature on the second picture and a faster shutter.

I prefer picture two and I am grateful for the feedback.
