Welcome to TP

and welcome to the world of madness that is a POTD challenge :wacky: there's plenty of support here for you in your challenge (y) if you want to be in the list of POTDer's in the thread stick put a link to your thread HERE

We also have a support thread HERE

Now to your first photo's I love the first one some nice action captured there (y) the second is not really doing anything for me as the player is back to the camera

Hello

Thanks for the comments. I see your point with #2 but I like it just because it was a difficult ball to get to, she had to swing to her right and is actually off the ground on contact. Compare to this other shot which has been diddled with a bit, but shows the classic stance when the ball is coming straight at you. Her face suggests that something fast is about to arrive!

Today's offering, moving away from the volleyball theme ... and just for fun, of course! :bonk:

Just had a walk around one small part of Barcelona while my daughter was training. Decided to post 5 after resizing/cropping etc Catching up!!

#5 Fire Escape - Pleased with this as it was the only shot I managed to take before an over-zealous security guard told me to shove off.

#6 Like my challenge? So far, not bad? Yeah, terrible pun! I'm sure I've seen something like this before .... maybe a wrecked car in a desert in Arizona or something.
Anyway, this is obviously a very romantic trysting place, don't you think?

#7 Sea View Hotel - This is actually an abandoned country house now swallowed up by Barcelona's urban sprawl.
Don't know why they bothered to concrete the windows like that, being so high up.

#8 Transport - JCB - I had time to compose this and I'm quite happy with it.

#9 Transport - Tram - Chose my spot and had this one chance as the tram moved off.

Looks like your enjoying your challenge (y) but don't think that you have to catch up, that's not the way that these challenges normally work (y) a lot of people start at the start of the year but there are probably as many people that start at a different time of the year (y)

I love your fire escape one the shape and exposure work really well together (y)

#11 Monumental

I believe this was used as a telecommunications tower at the time of the '92 Barcelona Olympics. Has been 'GIMPED' ... heavy contrast added ......

Thanks for the comments. I think that the communications tower has a lot of potential - I must go back at dawn or at sunset sometime and do a whole set from different angles.
And the contrast of #13 - that also struck me as the photo's best feature.

Nipped out while my daughter was warming up for her volleyball game and took these (grainy ISO 6400) nightshots ......

#17 Up ahead in the distance .......

#18 I saw ........ these shimmering lights.

All the photos have been cropped. I prefer the last three, and of those, the very last is the one I am most pleased with.
25 uploaded - day 52

Thanks Mathew. You seem to be one of the few people to take time to visit all the 365 posts, so your visits are much appreciated!

By the way, I also posted two of these shots in another thread (Landscapes and Scenery). Don't know if that's allowed?

Totally allowed (y) I will post a few of my challenge images in there own dedicated threads from time to time, as to my comments I try and make time to work my way through the list of challenge participants at least twice a week (y)

Good start to your challenge Bob.

I particularly like shot 13, it's got a funky abstract feel to it. Plus I have a thing about that lovely sky blue with a crisp white. Those two colours just make a picture work.

You so close to being caught up to the point that you will be to a status quo and posting a single photo the same as most of the others that's rather impressive (y) and that slot car track all I can say is wow that's a bit smart (y)

A good trick for checking for dust spots is a nice blue sky and set your aperture at f/22 (y) if there are any there that will have them show up (y)

Hello again Matt

Maybe I'm losing my English here in Barcelona!

But I don't fully understand what you mean in this line:shrug:

Cheers for the dust spot tip

Bob

Going through some old memory cards from an Olympus C350, I came across some shots from a 'while back'. Haven't had time to do anything new this week so I have cheated. At least they were cropped this year!

#39, 40, 41 - Charles Darwin

They were taken in Bradford outside the Town Hall, so I must have been on holiday. And yeah, ok, Darwin's Year was 2009, so a long while back!!!:puke:

What I mean is that for most 365/366 challenges it's about a single photo for each day of the year or A Photo of the Day (y) but that said a challenge like this you make the rules up for yourself to stick to but unless I've misunderstood your idea your going to take and post multiple photo's to get up to the same number as those that started on the 1st of Jan

Matt

Hi Matt,

Yes, that's about it. It would be impossible to take/upload once a day, so my only alternative is the multiple upload system.

Anyway, that said, the idea behind the challenge (as far as I can see) is to experiment and try to vary the type of image/subject/style etc

Next on the list will light trails hopefully, and I also like the idea of those nd filters facilitating longer daytime exposures.

Cheers

Bob

Day 50

50 not out!

Spotted these two on a plant we have on the balcony. It's some kind of cactus I believe. Anyway, never seen flowers before in the 15 years or so it's been there, so worth a photo to immortalise the event.

Day 56 - Light painting study.

An experiment with light painting, actually right where I'm sitting now!
(f18, 20", ISO 400, 18mm) and a small torch in a completely dark room.

I focused using the trigger cable, held the button down, then turned the lights out before 'starting' the shot. Then, a random waving about with aforementioned torch. I suppose that's the standard technique.

Should've cleaned the computer screen! The small webcam flare was an accident, but I quite like it. And I cropped the original.

You've been very busy since my last but some really nice images (y) I'm please that your still enjoying the challenge (y) I not that your planning on doing some light trails soon, since those are my specialist subject I am really looking forward to seeing those (y)

Matt

The light trails may have to wait :shake: as I'll be in Exeter next week on a school trip. I'll just be taking the basic camera, no extras. So maybe b/w cathedral shots instead!

10th March - Today is Day 70 of the 366 and I'm on photo 56!! :shake:

Must catch up - hopefully my trip to Exeter will provide lots of opportunities and by the 18th I'll be up to date. (y)
