Living in a small village we don't have a high street as such. Rather than drive to the nearest town, I decided to interpret "local area" as the area within 1 mile of where I live. This gave me more scope than a village with one pub, one church, no shops and nothing that could be described as a high street.

The first evening of the challenge, the weather was glorious and the light could only be described as golden, so it was a great opportunity to take some shots of the local canal, which I have never photographed before.

Just wanna say thanks to Terri for setting this up, it's always motivating to have a challenge and I've enjoyed it, so thanks. :)

A special prize for the image that has the most votes overall.

The judging will be done by those that enter the comp ... if you enter you will be entitled to vote for one image in each category, ... the entry with the most votes wins .... only those that enter the comp will be entitled to vote
<then there was list of those who signed up for comp.

I vote for No. 2 St-ephen - admits it is not strictly on the high street - but looks like only a few are but something quite diffeent

Difficult to choose in this category. St-ephen I would have voted for your gold post box if you had posted it in the "Original" thread.

I think I have to vote for #4 gramps and #5 tdodd. I love both of them and know I could never manage a shot like that. They are both beautifully sharp and full of interest.
