Blasting away at the usual Blue Tits and Green Finches yesterday lunchtime and the camera's memory card got full. When I looked back up at the feeding there was a beautifull black & white woodpecker sat there! I frantically tried to delete some files- but of course it flew off before I was ready.

Here's a few of the usual crowd that didn't 'get away'.

No3 is a Dunnock (Hedge Sparrow).

Improving all the time - much less cluttered backgrounds.

Thanks for the ID- The Dunnocks will not fly up to the feeding station they stay in the undergrowth- I think they are feasting on the stuff the other birds drop.

Clearly a 2Gb card isn't enough for a lunch hour shoot- might buy an 8Gb now- have seen some for about £25.

Dunnocks tend to always be rummaging on the ground. It's quite rare you'll catch them anywhere photogenic like on a branch - but they will land there now and again - usually when you're doing something else.
