Great day wasn't it? Some nice images. I really like 2 and 4. I tried to take similar but didn't get anything as good as those two. What lens did you use? I struggled to get reach and when cropped, didn't rate mine.
Cheers Paul, I was just to the right of one of the uncovered grandstands with the tower to my right. I had an enthusiastic 4 year old and decidedly unenthusiastic 2 year old with me.
We had a great day at Waddington helped by going on the train and free shuttle bus to avoid the traffic.
These are all great shots from the day. You've done really well with the 2xTC too! I could never get that to work for me on the 300/2.8.

How did the bus avoid the traffic? Just curious...
we stayed from Friday night about 10 minutes away in a B&B. Actually took us 35 minutes to get in and parked, on both Saturday and sunday, so I though that was good. Took a bit longer to get out, about an hour from hanger to car-park exit - which I still think is good, really...
Was a fab weekend - waiting to find next year's dates! Is it always first weekend in July?
Thanks for the comments. Gareth, the IQ has taken a significant hit using the 2x (even though it's the MkIII). To be honest the results from 300mm but cropped harder are probably better, a useful experiment though, I need to look harder for a 1.4x!! I can 'get away with it' at web resolution but anything bigger and the difference is obvious. The shots without the 2x are sharp, very impressive for an 11 year old lens.
