Go for the backgrounds. You may miss out on a few pictures a game but when you do nail the focus your pictures will look a lot better in my opinion. Try it out!

Not a fan of 'before the ball was hit' shots. Usually find with cricket action looks best after the ball has been hit. Find the bowling frame to be a bit too messy for me. I would try to shoot the bowler more side on and get him inbetween the umpire and stumps or even straight on can work!

The only one I really like is of the guy in the green jumper hitting out the sand. Could do with cropping tighter though.
I think in general you need to get closer to the action, everything is just too small in the frame. Also, try to keep backgrounds clean. Avoid golf buggies and other people...

Think 'man opening gate' is a bit dull personally. I think number 2 would benefit from being shot wider to show of what looks like some fantastic scenery in the background. Personally for me i'm not a huge fan of the washed out sky in number 6 but like the way you have...
Get lower, try to find locations with cleaner backgrounds and also where riders will show more emotions in their faces. As previously mentioned hills etc
