    My Astronomical 2010

absolutely unbelievable photos! just the thought of being able to see Jupiter in that detail with such a small telescope! well I dont have the first idea about telescopes, but an 80mm diameter lens seems tiny, and yet you can see so much.

First attempt at close up work

Very nice idea, and very well executed I'd say, houses are nice and sharp, and all the relevant text is readable, only things I could add would be that maybe if you reframed it so that you are looking down the monopoly board more (mostly to have less blank green space in the top corner which I...

    In the Blink + Edit

Yeah that straight away looks much better, you've got yourself there a nice starting point from where you can easily expand the idea to something a bit more intriguing :)

Oil and Water, first attempt (Re-shot)

yeah, foil works better allows for greater contrast so the boundaries are more visible, not sure how smoothing the foil will affect it, but certainly the position of the flash will have a great affect with the foil, its just guess and see really!

Oil and Water, first attempt (Re-shot)

2 and 4 dont really do anythign for me, 1 and 3 look good and cant really fault much, the only thing I can say is that I think that with this type of shot, the photo is made in the detail, so cropping the image closer or getting closer to the subject would be better in my opinion :)

    In the Blink + Edit

I think the shallow depth of field works well since it focusses the eye, however I think in post processing you may have overdone one setting (maybe something like clarity) as the out of focus string in the top right corner looks odd to me. IMO maybe not going as close would have a nicer...

    There must be a formula

oh yeah forgot to say that I also assuming your gonna use the camera in portrait, no chance it'll work landscape :P

    There must be a formula

I reckon its possible, but this is based on a couple of assumptions, first that the simple lens formula will work (should be a decent apporximation I hope), that the stated distance of 12 foot is literally where your camera can be placed (so this might be right up against the wall) buut I think...

How many of these do you think are legit (craigslist)

Happened to look across at craigslist and there seems to be a hell of a lot of too-good-to-be-true listings, it just seems that ALL of them cant be scams... or are they, what does anyone think? http://london.craigslist.co.uk/pho/

    New laptop advice needed

ahh never saw the pc section, if a mod or someone could move the thread that'd be great :) Hmm well I was originally going to go with a dell as they have always been the cheapest for me in the past by quite a margin as well, but this time around they dont seem so good, just looked at the...
