I have owned both at different times. Absolutely loved the menu on the 50D and it's ease of use. But AF results and handling of the 1D is sublime. Rosie

The 40d is still a great camera and can be had for under £400 these days. Rosie

Tamron 28-75 f2.8 worth about £225 second hand is worth a look.

All a bit strange this...surely you can get the flash to work how you want with wireless ??

Quite nice, would have looked a smidge better if the shutter speed had been a little slower giving more blur on the background and wheels. Otherwise, nice! Rosie

Wouldn't say it's better. Probably easier for novice's. I use the following settings as default...then adjust as necessary. Amount 100% Radius 1.4 Threshold 1 Don't forget that is just my start point!
