I agree, No 2 is my fave shot also. Overall I think these are good :) only niggle for me is on image 4; I feel the reflector is a little too close

As its been ages since i last uploaded any images, so I thought i'd share some of my recent portraits. Im a minimalist when it comes to kit and all these are shot with a simple silver umbrella and cheap flash gun. All post work in PhotoShop :) 1. 2. 3. 4.

A few other shots from the same shoot. Very close crops with a mono conversion. 5. 6. 7. Similar processing from No2, but no where near as heavy.

It was a Tamron 70-200 f2.8

Indeed, all TP users are at different levels, hence some love it and others, like yourself, its nothing special. The question is, and this is the key to photography success; what would make it special? I'd agree with you on no 2, the more I look at it the more over done it looks. A toned down...

Its a good point you raise there; everyone's screens show differences in tones and sharpness. So, when I'm editing and the skin smoothing looks spot on to me, could it look completely different and OTT to another viewer?

I don't usually like it myself, but I was happy with it in this instance. I think its good just to have a play and try things you may not have done before. There's no guarantee it will work or please everyone, but its all part of the learning :) Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for commenting. Not sure what to say regarding the makeup; she's applied very little. The posing is not an area I'm great in but we're both fairly inexperienced so that can only improve; although personally I think her poses are fine :) Thanks

Like I said, No 2 was just an experiment and was never going to be to everyone's taste.
