It was in macro mode,so yes quite close. Luckily the moth wasn't too bothered.

Thanks, I am struggling with Gimp having only used relatively simple editing software (like Picasa) up till now. It was free so I thought I'd give it a go.

Thanks, Moth trap is home made,just an old wooden box, couple of pieces of perspex and a uv light source that I bough from Watkins and Doncaster. Not the most elaborate set up but its amazing what you catch just sat there by the back door.
