The last bit (McGetty) is I think from Delly Carr the Austrailian sport photographer, at least that's the first person I ever heard it from. Not sure about the photographer/cow bit although it sounds like the sort of thing he would say. :)

I merely thought that as I have no idea of grammar or punctuation & you obviously have, whereas in my opinion you've got no manners, we could meet up so you could give me some lessons in grammar etc. & I could teach you some manners.:)

You're proving it more all the time that you are exactly what I called you in an earlier post (the one the mods deleted) I make no apology for the fact that I didn't like school, & never tried to do any lessons I didn't want to. I left school at 15 voluntarily so didn't have a great...

Tour De France (stage two) - York

Nick, very nice. Peter, I like the shot of the little girl wearing the polka dot hat. Always good to get a few incidental pic's. Stew.

    The Grand Depart 2014

For me the best set we've seen so far. When you're telling your grandchildren about this you can show them the pictures & they will see just what it was like. Stew.

    Help with tour-de-france (York)

Ah yes, all part of the madness that is Le Tour, never quite understood that level of fanaticism myself to be honest. The riders have a saying about riding up the big climbs with all the fans then hurtling down the other side at lunatic speeds they 'take their brain out & put it in a box'. :D...

    Help with tour-de-france (York)

And if you position yourself properly you won't get them. :) You will get them to the side of the riders + the expressions in the crowd that give you the atmosphere of the event. Graham Watson & other specialist snappers regularly go into upstairs rooms in peoples houses or somewhere with a...

    Help with tour-de-france (York)

But surely the whole point of pictures of the Tour de France is to capture the atmosphere, excitement & madness of it all. Most of the pictures I've seen posted on forums so far could have been taken at any local road race on a Sunday afternoon, the only thing that says TdF is the caption. Take...

    Lenses for cycling velodrome

Not sure whether I'm imagining this or not but did I see in a post somewhere you have a 200-400? That would be ideal for the longer down the finishing straight shots from the outside end of the track (& a little bit lighter) Also forgot to say there are loads of great candid shots to be had in...

    Lenses for cycling velodrome

Hi Nigel, The lenses you've listed there are ideal, all of them can be used from the apron at the side of the track (track center) & also from the outside of the track. A good place outside track is near the final bend when the cyclist are fighting out the sprint for the line, you could also use...

*HELP* Tour de France (or any other ASO event) press accreditation

Hi Tom, It's over 20 years since I shot any cycling on the continent & one of the mags would normally apply for my accreditation but from memory I always used to pick up the accred. at the media signing on near the start of the race, don't recall it ever being sent to me or the mag. You're...
