Thanks for the tip, I have this same issue. Does the wax become an issue in hot weather, for example, getting on the lens glass? I had an idea which I haven't tried yet, I've got some silicon spray for buggies which I have considered applying a small amount to a cotton bud and wiping it around...

and saw this large deer. Unfortunately my 300mm lens has no VR so had to increase the ISO in failing light hence the noise and not quite sharp enough image. I do not know the species - I do however love living next to a field and woodland sometimes!

also, was there any breeze? Any slight movement of the thistle could take away some sharpness. a VR lens would help you too so you could lower that shutter speed and ISO.

I love the second one. It draws your attention to a body shape that wouldn't ordinarially see.

Some shots of my recent trips to local RAF Lakenheath of the F-15 Strike Eagles. Apologies that some aren't great, i'm still very new to taking aviation photos but I've found some good spots for taking the pictures:

I headed up to the tracks in Red Lodge for an hour or so to have a little practice. I'm going to Goodwood Festival of Speed this year and I want to make sure I'm used to taking motorsport shots before I get there!

Spotted this little blighter sitting on our light. Had to fiddle with the settings a lot because the light was on and had to be to keep it there/see it! This was the shot that came out the best:
